Who Is CBAC?


Cooperative Business Assistance Corporation (CBAC) is a non-profit, "mission-based" community lending organization. We were created in 1987 to encourage the growth and stability of small businesses in Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia, helping them to create jobs in our communities and fully contribute to our regional economy.


As the premier Microlender in the South Jersey region, we achieve our mission by making direct, transparent, fair, and competitive interest rate loans with low fees. Our loan amounts range from as little as $1,000 to $50,000 for businesses in all stages of growth, and as much as $250,000 in partnership with other lenders for established businesses. We also offer no cost training, coaching, and technical assistance to our small business borrowers in all stages of development -- from start-up to experienced.


One of the things we do that is unique is we work in partnership with area banks to make larger business loans that traditional lenders might not be able to do without CBAC’s participation.  Some of our current bank partners in the region include:

CBAC has been the #1 SBA Microlender in New Jersey for 19 of the past 21 years for number of loans made, and we consistently rank in the SBA top ten nationally for loan dollars made. Our loan programs have been recognized as a model for small business lending in low-income urban environments by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank, U.S. Department of Commerce, Woodstock Institute, and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

CBAC is not an SBA Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) lender.

The SBA PPP expired on 8-8-2020. CBAC is an SBA Lender but we never offered PPP Loans.  Any PPP applications sent to us were deleted or shredded in order to protect your privacy! Please contact your current bank or visit www.sba.gov for updated program information regarding future funding and other, available assistance.
