About Cooperative Business Assistance Corporation

Cooperative Business Assistance Corporation (CBAC) is a non-profit, public-private partnership created in 1987. Established to encourage the growth and stability of the small business sector, CBAC facilitates opportunities for banks to make business loans in both the City of Camden, New Jersey and the six counties located in Southern New Jersey. By strengthening small businesses Cooperative Business provides funding that: creates jobs; provides necessary services to local residents; and rehabilitates vacant properties which ultimately contribute to the stabilization of the community. Cooperative Business offers small business owners and entrepreneurs below market interest rate loans, technical assistance, and a professional referral network. We offer loans to businesses for as little as $1,000 to as much as $2,000,000 through various loan and guaranty programs. CBAC loans leverage private equity investment and loans from the private sector. These services are offered in cooperation with our ten commercial banks including, Bank of America, Wachovia Bank, Citizens Bank, Sun National Bank, TBANK North, Commerce Bank, Newfield Bank, Colonial Bank FSB, The Bank, and Susquehanna Patriot Bank. CBAC's lending programs have been recognized as a model for small business lending in a low-income urban environment by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Philadelphia Federal Reserve bank, U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Woodstock Institute.

In the past five years, CBAC has made 398 loans which have retained or created approximately 2,293 jobs. CBAC's borrowers have increased Camden's real estate tax base by over $20 million. Sixty percent of CBAC's loans have been to minority owned businesses.

CBAC is a certified Community Development Financial Institution, a Certified Development Entity, a U.S. Small Business Administration MicroLoan Intermediary, and a U.S. Small Business Administration Associate Development Company making SBA MicroLoans and 504 Loans in six counties in Southern New Jersey. If your business is located in Camden, Atlantic, Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester, or Cape May Counties CBAC has funds available with repayment plans up to twenty (20) years.
